Red shift
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-010036
A shift of an absorption or emission band in a spectrum to longer wavelengths (lower energy). This phenomenon is often observed when a chromophore is placed in a more polar solvent or when conjugation within the molecule increases. It is also known as a bathochromic shift.
