Relative permeability

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-010153

A dimensionless quantity that describes the ease with which a magnetic field can be established in a material, relative to its establishment in a vacuum. It is the ratio of the magnetic permeability of a material to the permeability of free space. Materials with relative permeability greater than one are paramagnetic or ferromagnetic, while those less than one are diamagnetic.
