Resonance form
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-010249
A Lewis structure that represents one of the possible electron arrangements for a molecule or ion that exhibits resonance. No single resonance form accurately depicts the true electronic structure; rather, the actual molecule is a hybrid of all contributing forms. These forms differ only in the placement of pi electrons and lone pairs, not in the arrangement of atoms.
