Retention efficiency
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-010288
The fraction of the particles entering a separator, such as a filter, impactor, or cyclone, that the device holds back, usually quoted as a percentage. It is the retained quantity divided by the entering quantity and depends on particle size, so it is measured as a curve over diameter. The size at which it falls to a stated value is the cut-off of the device.
