Saturation mutagenesis
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-010529
A molecular biology technique used to create a library of mutant proteins by systematically introducing all possible amino acid substitutions at one or more specific positions within a gene. This method allows researchers to explore the functional consequences of every possible amino acid change at a given site. It is a powerful tool for understanding protein structure-function relationships and for engineering proteins with enhanced properties.
