Protein engineering
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-009576
The process of modifying the structure and function of proteins through genetic manipulation or chemical synthesis to create novel proteins with desired properties. This involves altering amino acid sequences to enhance stability, change substrate specificity, or introduce new catalytic activities. Techniques include site-directed mutagenesis and directed evolution to achieve specific functional improvements.
