Mutagenesis
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-007707
The process by which the genetic material of an organism is altered, resulting in a mutation. This change can occur spontaneously through errors in DNA replication or repair, or it can be induced by external agents called mutagens. Mutagenesis is a fundamental process in evolution and is also employed in molecular biology for studying gene function.
