Scaling equation
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-010541
A dimensionless relation that collapses the mutual solubility curves of many chemically similar liquid pairs onto a single curve. The composition at each temperature is measured as its distance from the composition at the consolute point, and the temperature is rescaled by the consolute temperature. Close to the consolute point the difference in composition between the two coexisting liquid phases varies as a power law of the reduced temperature, with an exponent near one third.
