Sella turcica
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-010717
A depression in the superior surface of the sphenoid bone, located at the base of the human skull. This saddle-shaped structure provides a protective enclosure for the pituitary gland, a key component of the endocrine system. In toxicology and endocrinology, changes in the size or shape of the sella turcica, observed through medical imaging, can indicate pituitary tumors or other developmental abnormalities affecting hormone regulation.
