Sensitized luminescence
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-010747
A process where energy absorbed by one species, the sensitizer, is transferred to another species, the activator, which then emits luminescence. The sensitizer absorbs light at a wavelength where the activator has poor absorption. This technique is frequently employed in analytical chemistry to detect species that are not directly luminescent or have weak emission.
