Simultaneous semi-interpenetrating polymer network

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-010883

A polymer blend comprising at least one polymer network and at least one linear or branched polymer, where both components are formed or introduced simultaneously. The monomers for the network and the linear or branched polymer are mixed together and polymerized at the same time. This process leads to a material where the linear or branched polymer is physically entangled within the network, but no covalent bonds exist between the two distinct polymer types.
