Static self-assembly
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-011333
A process where pre-existing components spontaneously arrange into ordered structures at equilibrium, driven by thermodynamic forces. This type of self-assembly does not involve continuous energy input to maintain the assembled state once formed. Examples include the formation of micelles, vesicles, or block copolymer microdomains, where the final structure is stable under given conditions.
