Stereoselective polymerization
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-011384
A polymerization in which a blend of stereoisomeric monomers yields polymer molecules built from only one of the stereoisomers, as when a chiral catalyst polymerizes just one enantiomer of racemic propylene oxide and leaves the other unreacted. The selection concerns which monomer isomer is incorporated, not which face of a prochiral monomer adds, which is the matter in stereospecific polymerization to a tactic polymer.
