Stereosequence

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-011387

A stretch of a polymer's main chain in which the configuration, relative or absolute, is stated at every site of stereoisomerism. Relative descriptions such as meso and racemic diads and triads count as stereosequences, as do sequences specified by R and S or D and L labels. Isotactic, syndiotactic and atactic stretches are all stereosequences once their site-by-site configuration is given.
