Configurational repeating unit
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-002407
The shortest run of consecutive configurational base units that, repeated, reproduces the configuration of a regular polymer chain. For isotactic polypropylene it is a single base unit with fixed configuration, whereas for syndiotactic polypropylene it is a pair of base units of opposite configuration. Atactic chains have no configurational repeating unit because their configurations follow no repeating pattern.
