Sultams

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-011573

Cyclic sulfonamides, which are heterocyclic compounds containing a sulfur atom and a nitrogen atom within a ring structure, where the sulfur is part of a sulfonyl group. These compounds are formed by the intramolecular reaction of a sulfonyl halide with an amine. Sultams are often found as structural motifs in biologically active molecules and pharmaceuticals.
