Superabsorbent polymer
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-011585
A polymeric material capable of absorbing and retaining extremely large quantities of liquid relative to its own mass. These polymers are typically crosslinked hydrophilic networks that swell significantly in the presence of water. Sodium polyacrylate is a common example, widely used in disposable diapers and agricultural applications.
