Support
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-011612
An inert material, typically porous and with a high surface area, onto which an active catalytic component is dispersed. The support provides mechanical strength, prevents sintering of the active phase, and can influence the catalytic activity and selectivity. Common support materials include alumina, silica, and activated carbon.
