Temperature-programmed oxidation

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-011857

A thermal analysis technique where a sample is heated in a controlled atmosphere containing an oxidizing gas, and the consumption of the gas or the evolution of oxidation products is monitored as a function of temperature. This method is used to characterize the oxidative stability of materials or to determine the amount and nature of carbonaceous deposits on catalysts. The technique provides information about the activation energies and reaction mechanisms of oxidation processes.
