Template
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-011859
A macromolecule, typically a strand of deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) or ribonucleic acid (RNA), that serves as a guide for the synthesis of another macromolecule with a complementary sequence. This principle underlies fundamental biological processes such as DNA replication and transcription. The template dictates the order of monomers in the newly synthesized polymer.
