Thermodynamic control
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-011963
A condition in a chemical reaction where the product distribution is determined by the relative stabilities of the products, rather than by the rates of their formation. This occurs when the reaction is reversible and allowed to reach equilibrium, favoring the most thermodynamically stable product. Thermodynamic control is typically observed at higher temperatures or longer reaction times.
