Vaginal smear

A diagnostic technique involving the collection and microscopic examination of cells from the vaginal epithelium. This method is used to assess the stage of the estrous cycle in animals or to detect pathological conditions in humans, such as infections or precancerous changes. The morphology of the epithelial cells varies predictably with hormonal fluctuations.
