Vaginal cornification
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-012492
The process of keratinization and desquamation of the epithelial cells lining the vagina, particularly observed during certain phases of the estrous or menstrual cycle in many female mammals. This change in cellular morphology is primarily influenced by estrogen levels. It is often used as an indicator of hormonal status and reproductive cyclicity in animal studies.
