Visual cortex
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-012597
The region of the cerebral cortex responsible for processing visual information received from the retina. Located in the occipital lobe at the rearmost portion of the brain, it interprets attributes such as color, form, and motion. Neurotoxicants that affect this area can cause specific deficits in visual perception, such as cortical blindness or visual field defects, even when the eyes themselves are undamaged.
