Zeeman levels
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-012794
The splitting of atomic or molecular energy levels into multiple closely spaced sub-levels when subjected to an external magnetic field. This phenomenon, known as the Zeeman effect, arises from the interaction of the magnetic dipole moment of the atom or molecule with the applied field. The number and spacing of these levels depend on the strength of the magnetic field and the angular momentum of the electrons.
