An abbreviation for Current Limiting Resistor, a passive electrical component placed in a circuit to reduce or control the amount of current flowing through it. Its primary function is to protect other components from damage by excessive current, such as placing one in series with a light-emitting diode (LED) to prevent it from burning out. The resistor's value is determined using Ohm's law, based on the source voltage, the desired current, and the voltage drop across the component being protected.
