PTC
Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-004560
A resistor whose electrical resistance increases significantly with a rise in temperature. This positive temperature coefficient (PTC) behavior is exhibited by certain thermistors and is used for self-regulating heating elements and resettable overcurrent protection devices. Unlike a fuse, a PTC device resets itself automatically once the fault condition is removed and the component cools down, returning to a low-resistance state.
