Collateral consanguinity

A relationship between individuals who share a common ancestor but are not in a direct line of ascent or descent from each other. This includes relatives such as siblings, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. The degree of collateral consanguinity is often calculated by counting the steps up to the common ancestor and then down to the other relative.
