Consummation
Term · Law · MLC-T-LAW-001243
The first act of sexual intercourse between spouses after a marriage ceremony, which completes the marriage in the physical sense. Some jurisdictions treat a marriage that is never consummated because of one spouse's incapacity as voidable, so the other spouse can seek annulment. In consumer credit law the same word marks the moment a borrower becomes contractually bound to a lender, which starts the three business day rescission period on certain home loans.
