Pat-down

A limited search of a person's outer clothing for weapons, conducted by law enforcement officers. This type of search, also known as a frisk, is permissible under the Fourth Amendment if an officer has reasonable suspicion that the individual is armed and dangerous. It is a protective measure, not a search for evidence of a crime.
