Reversible error

A mistake made by a trial court during legal proceedings that is serious enough to warrant overturning the judgment on appeal. This type of error must have prejudiced the substantial rights of a party or affected the outcome of the case. Examples include incorrect jury instructions or the improper admission of evidence.
