Free on board (FOB)

An Incoterm (International Commercial Term) where the seller delivers the goods on board the vessel nominated by the buyer at the named port of shipment. The risk of loss or damage to the goods passes from the seller to the buyer when the goods are on board the vessel. The seller is responsible for export clearance, while the buyer covers all costs and risks from that point.
