Absorbed solar radiation
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-003198
The portion of incoming solar radiation that is taken up by the Earth's surface and atmosphere, converting it into thermal energy. This energy drives atmospheric and oceanic circulation, evaporation, and other meteorological processes. It is calculated by subtracting the reflected and transmitted solar radiation from the incident solar radiation.
