Airlight formula

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-003408

A mathematical expression used to quantify the amount of light scattered by the atmosphere into an observer's line of sight, which contributes to the perceived brightness of the sky and reduces contrast. This formula typically relates the observed radiance to the atmospheric transmittance and the inherent radiance of the target. It is applied in fields such as atmospheric optics and remote sensing to correct for atmospheric effects.
