Bog

A wetland ecosystem characterized by acidic, nutrient-poor soil and a thick layer of peat, primarily composed of partially decayed sphagnum moss. Bogs receive most of their water and nutrients from precipitation, making them ombrotrophic. They are typically found in cool, temperate, or boreal climates and support specialized plant communities adapted to these harsh conditions.
