Doppler sodar
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-005098
A type of SODAR (Sound Detection and Ranging) system that uses the Doppler effect to measure wind speed and direction in the lower atmosphere. It emits acoustic pulses and analyzes the frequency shift of the backscattered sound waves from atmospheric turbulence. Doppler sodars are often used for boundary layer studies and wind energy assessments.
