Dynamic stability

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-005211

The tendency of an air parcel or an atmospheric system to return to its original state after being perturbed, considering the effects of inertia and momentum. This differs from static stability, which only considers buoyancy forces. An air parcel exhibiting dynamic stability will oscillate around its equilibrium position before returning to it.
