Dynamic similarity
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-005210
A condition where the ratios of all forces acting on corresponding fluid elements in two different flow systems are equal. This principle allows for the use of scaled-down models to study complex atmospheric phenomena, such as wind flow around buildings or over terrain. It is achieved when relevant dimensionless parameters, like the Reynolds number, are matched between the model and the prototype.
