Electron volt

A unit of energy equivalent to the kinetic energy gained by a single electron when it accelerates across an electric potential difference of one volt. It is commonly used in atomic, nuclear, and particle physics to express the energy of subatomic particles. One electron volt is approximately 1.602 x 10^-19 joules.
