Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-005673

A localized area on the leeward side of a mountain range that experiences significantly warmer and drier conditions due to the foehn effect, surrounded by regions where the foehn influence is weaker or absent. This phenomenon often occurs when the foehn flow is channeled through a specific valley or pass, creating a distinct thermal anomaly. It represents a pocket of enhanced foehn activity.
