Fourier series

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-005740

A mathematical expansion that represents any periodic function as an infinite sum of sine and cosine functions, each with a specific amplitude and phase. The series allows for the decomposition of complex periodic atmospheric phenomena into their constituent harmonic components. It is widely applied in analyzing cyclical patterns in meteorological data, such as daily temperature variations or seasonal oscillations.
