Fast Fourier transform
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-005543
An efficient algorithm for computing the discrete Fourier transform (DFT) and its inverse. It decomposes a sequence of values into components of different frequencies, which is useful for analyzing periodic signals in meteorological data. This method significantly reduces the computational time compared to a direct DFT calculation, especially for large datasets.
