Gross-austausch
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-006080
The large-scale turbulent exchange of mass and atmospheric properties such as heat, momentum, and water vapor. This concept, also known as the large-scale exchange coefficient, describes the mixing action of large eddies and circulation systems in the atmosphere, contrasting with molecular diffusion. The term originated in early 20th-century German turbulence theory to quantify mixing over vast horizontal and vertical distances.
