Hall effect
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-006154
The generation of a voltage difference across an electrical conductor, transverse to an electric current and an applied magnetic field. This phenomenon occurs when the magnetic field exerts a Lorentz force on the moving charge carriers, deflecting them to one side of the conductor. The Hall voltage is proportional to the current and the magnetic field strength.
