Hard rime
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-006168
A type of ice accretion that forms when supercooled water droplets freeze rapidly upon impact with a surface, typically in strong winds and temperatures between -2 and -10 degrees Celsius. It appears as a white, opaque, granular deposit that is dense and adheres firmly to objects. Unlike soft rime, hard rime is more compact and less easily dislodged.
