Homologous turbulence

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-006268

A state of fluid motion where the statistical properties of turbulence are self-similar at all points in the flow field, differing only by scaling factors for length and velocity. This concept is an idealization used in theoretical models of turbulence to simplify analysis. Real atmospheric turbulence may approximate homologous conditions only in specific regions, such as within a well-mixed boundary layer.
