Obukhov length
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-007654
A characteristic length scale in the atmospheric surface layer that describes the relative contributions of buoyancy and mechanical turbulence to the generation of turbulent kinetic energy. It indicates the stability of the atmosphere near the ground. Positive values signify stable conditions, negative values unstable conditions, and values near zero indicate neutral stability.
