Hydroxyl ion
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-006359
A polyatomic anion with the chemical formula OH-, consisting of an oxygen atom bonded to a hydrogen atom and carrying a negative charge. While prevalent in aqueous solutions, its direct role in gas-phase atmospheric chemistry is limited compared to the neutral hydroxyl radical. It is a strong base and nucleophile in liquid-phase reactions.
