JONSWAP spectrum
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-006745
A mathematical model describing the distribution of wave energy across different frequencies in a developing wind-generated sea. It is an empirical spectrum derived from measurements taken during the Joint North Sea Wave Project (JONSWAP). This spectrum is widely used in oceanography and coastal engineering to characterize sea states, particularly in fetch-limited conditions.
