Kriging
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-006816
A geostatistical interpolation technique used to estimate values at unobserved locations based on known values at nearby points, considering the spatial correlation structure of the data. It provides not only an estimate but also a measure of the uncertainty of that estimate. In meteorology, kriging is applied for spatial interpolation of precipitation, temperature, or other meteorological variables from sparse observation networks.
